Jason joined Granny’s in the fall of 2009 after six years leading the sales, marketing and product development team for Manitoba’s Bothwell Cheese. During his tenure at Bothwell, Jason collaborated on repositioning the company with a new look and image that resulted in sales growth of more than 100 percent. Granny’s rebranded and redefined its products in the marketplace in 2010 under Jason’s leadership. He also has developed and marketed specialty foods through his own company and is an internationally-trained professional chef.
Jason is vice-president of The Manitoba Food Processors Association and a member of the Canadian Culinary Federation. A summer favourite in the Wortzman household is tandoori chicken prepared with Granny’s skinless chicken breasts or legs marinated in yogurt and tandoori seasoning and slowly barbequed. In the winter, his family loves chicken cacciatore: skinless breasts and legs are sautéed in olive oil and then braised with wine, tomatoes, vegetables, garlic and fresh rosemary.
