Granny’s Poultry Cooperative announces winner of

Bring Your Family Home for the Holidays contest

September 14 2010, Winnipeg, MB – Granny’s Poultry Cooperative (www.Grannys.ca) today announced the winner of the Bring Your Family Home for the Holidays contest, Manitoba resident Bev Walters.

The contest, which was organized by Granny’s, Manitoba Homecoming 2010 and the Manitoba Turkey Producers, invited people to submit a short story describing why this would be a special time to bring loved ones home.

Bev Walters submitted a heartfelt and heartwarming story of her family’s annual Thanksgiving gathering at Rock Lake, Manitoba.

“For our family, our annual weekend at Rock Lake is nothing short of magical,” wrote Walters. “Mention it, and smiles widen, spirits warm, and memories bubble up and out: the familiar embrace of the old lodge - with its quaint nooks, crannies and corners; the shared anticipation of homemade chicken soup, pumpkin pie and melt-in-your-mouth sticky buns; the crunch of autumn leaves underfoot, a crisp breeze and comfortable conversation; silly skits, scavenger hunts and shared secrets late at night.”

Bev Walters received airfare to fly two family members home to Manitoba from anywhere in Canada for Thanksgiving dinner. Her family will also receive an in-home, gourmet Thanksgiving dinner catered for up to 18 people with turkey and all the trimmings prepared by Granny’s resident Chef Jason Wortzman.
