GRANNY’S INTRODUCES FRESH ORLOPP BRONZE HEIRLOOM TURKEY
SPECIALTY BIRDS AVAILABLE IN LIMITED SUPPLY FOR THANKSGIVING
Winnipeg, MB – Just in time for Thanksgiving, Granny’s Poultry is introducing fresh Orlopp Bronze Heirloom Turkey, a premium poultry product that is as plump and dark in appearance as it is robust and full-bodied in taste. The specialty bird has recently received a great deal of international attention from foodies in the culinary world as well as from consumers with discerning palates who are seeking a new twist on traditional turkey.
“In addition to having a unique caramel colour and fine texture all of its own, the Orlopp Bronze Heirloom Turkey offers a rich, complex flavour profile that is more comparable to that of a game bird, such as pheasant,” says Jason Wortzman, Director, Marketing and Product Development as well as an internationally-trained chef and member of the Canadian Culinary Federation.
“It makes this premium, broad-breasted turkey the perfect choice for the connoisseur who is looking for a truly memorable dining experience.”
Wortzman adds that in keeping with Granny’s philosophy of standing behind great tasting, nutritionally-balanced products, the Bronze is also an ideal choice because it is a grain fed, free-run turkey raised without antibiotics. The difference in the bird’s diet and physical attributes clearly results in a more refined flavour, Wortzman says.
Bronze Heirloom turkey has been garnering interest thanks to high-profile coverage on CNN, as well as magazine features in Food and Wine, Bon Appétit and Maclean’s.
Only a few dozen select producers are raising Bronze Heirloom turkeys in Canada at this time, but this number is expected to grow as the market for this specialty product grows. Although the variety is still relatively rare, Granny’s has secured a limited supply of the Bronze birds for the Thanksgiving season, and encourages customers to reserve theirs today to avoid missing out on this unique flavour experience.
