Our Commitment to Nutrition
Granny's has been working closely with food scientists at the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals at the University of Manitoba as well as the Food Development Centre in Portage La Prairie to create value-added products. One day very soon, it may be possible to buy a package of fresh Granny’s chicken that has been infused with heart-healthy flax oil – so that what’s on your dinner plate may actually help improve your overall cardiovascular health.
Good nutrition is a team effort at Granny’s, and our co-op producers are already adding value to their end products by using nutrient-rich feed for their birds. In fact, industry advancements selective breeding, better feed formulas and modern farming management practices are helping to produce poultry that is healthier, meatier and tastier than ever before.
