Deluxe Turkey Burgers
Naturally high in protein and low in sodium, turkey is your best option for a healthy, tasty meat. Try this recipe using ground turkey.
Ingredients
| 1 lb |
Granny's ground turkey Granny's Lean Ground Turkey Thighs |
| 1/4 tsp | black pepper |
| 3 tbsp | bread crumbs |
| 3 tbsp | chopped fresh tarragon (2 tsp dried) |
| 1/4 cup | Dijon mustard |
| 2 | egg whites |
| 4 | lettuce leaves |
| 1 | medium tomato, thinly sliced |
| 1 | small yellow onion, chopped |
| 4 | whole wheat hamburger buns |
Directions
Heat a charcoal grill until coals form white ash, or preheat a broiler or gas grill to medium.
In a large bowl combine turkey, egg whites, onion, mustard, tarragon, bread crumbs, and pepper. Mix well. Shape turkey mixture into 4 even patties.
Grill or broil burgers 4 inches from heat, turning once, until browned and cooked through, about 15 minutes.
Transfer turkey burgers to a plate. Split the hamburger buns and place them on serving plates. Place a burger on bottom half of each bun; top with lettuce and tomato. Place tops over burgers. Serve immediately.
